FAQ

WA-2! Guardian

How is the WA-2! Guardian installed?

WA-2! Water Co will install your Guardian on the main water line entering your house after the existing shut off and pressure reducing valve. If you live outside the WA-2! Service area, WA-2! Recommends that a licensed plumber install the WA-2! Guardian.

How much water must leak before a sensor shuts down the main valve?

The wireless sensors will shut the main valve down after contact with only a few drops of water. It is important to ensure the sensors are placed in the location that water will make contact with the sensor. A WA-2! Representative can perform a complimentary inspection of your premises and recommend locations to maximize the effectiveness of the sensor placement.

How many water sensors can I place around my premises?

The WA-2! Guardian will support up to 16 wireless sensors being placed around your premises. Appropriate locations to place sensors include hot water tank, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, icemakers, bathrooms and any other area that has the potential for water leaks.

Does the WA-2! Guardian qualify for a discount on my homeowner's insurance premiums?

As this product protects your property, it should increase your ability to obtain insurance. Please contact your insurance agent directly to see if discounts are offered for water leak protection systems.

What is the effective range of the wireless sensors from the main Control?

The WA-2! Guardian wireless sensors can be placed up to 300' from the Main Control unit. A WA-2! Representative will also perform a free test of the system at your premises at time of site inspection or installation to ensure the sensors are fully functional.

How long will the batteries in my sensors last?

The wireless sensors contain 2 'AAA' batteries. These require replacement every 2 years assuming that they not tripped by a leak. The sensor will blink should a low battery condition be present prior to this time.

Does the WA-2! Guardian protect against frozen or burst pipes?

Although the WA-2! Guardian cannot prevent your pipes from freezing, the preventative nature of the product can assist with ensuring you protect yourself from having this happen. Ask your WA-2! Representative how to take advantage of this feature.

How can I turn off my water supply manually using the WA-2! Guardian?

Each wireless sensor has the ability to open and close the water valve that is installed on your main water supply with the push of a button.

Can the WA-2! Guardian work with my security system?

Yes, the WA-2! Guardian is equipped with an auxiliary contact to wire into your security system. The connection of this feature is not performed by WA-2! Please consult with your security company to see if this feature is supported by your system.

Can I install a WA-2! Guardian if I live in an apartment or townhouse?

Yes, if you have your own water supply entering your condo or townhouse, you can install a WA-2! Guardian. An indicator of if you have your own water supply is if you have your own hot water tank within your suite. If you do not have your own water supply, you can also purchase a washing machine leak detector unit. Please call a WA-2! Representative for further information.
